In May 2024, The Blackheart Market made its terrifying debut in Kirkcaldy, taking over the Mercat Shopping Centre for a day of spooky shopping and alternative fun. We brought a diverse lineup of horror, goth, and alternative traders to the heart of Fife, offering something different for the local community.
What We Brought to the Mercat
The Blackheart Market is known for curating the best independent creators in Scotland, and our Kirkcaldy debut was no exception. We showcased a handpicked roster of traders specializing in the strange and unusual:
Horror & Slasher Merch: From classic movie memorabilia to custom-made props.
Gothic Crafts: Handmade jewelry, dark home decor, and unique accessories.
Alternative Art: Original prints and artwork from talented local illustrators, including the brilliant Alberto S. Ballesteros.
The “See You Jimmy” Slasher: Our promotional artwork featured a famous horror icon donning the classic “See You Jimmy” hat—a nod to our Scottish roots and a fan favorite on the day!
The Venue: Mercat Shopping Centre
Located right on the High Street (KY1 1NJ), the Mercat Shopping Centre proved to be an excellent host for our first venture into Kirkcaldy. The central location made it easy for fans from across Fife to join the fun.
Free Entry: As always, entry to The Blackheart Market was completely free, allowing everyone to browse and enjoy the atmosphere without a ticket.
Accessibility: The venue is fully accessible, ensuring all fans could join in the spooky festivities.
