Cumberbatch meets Dungeons & Dragons, Prepare yourselves to be enthralled by the one and only Benedict Cumberbatch narrating a Dungeons & Dragons tale.
This summer Wizards of the Coast have promised to make everyone’s lives better and less boring by deciding to release a new RPG Game called Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. R.A. Salvatore’s Forgotten Realms novels are the inspiration behind the story, but until the wait is over the King under the Mountain, the one and only Benedict Cumberbatch stepped in to give us a sneak peak of what to expect on June 22. He narrates the tale of Drizzt Do’Urden, one of the most popular adventuring heroes created by R.A. Salvatore. The drow elf that decided to defy an evil Goddess and managed to escape the Underdark to find the Light. Above all, a creepy D&D tale narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch is not exactly what we deserved, but it’s actually what we needed.
On his journey to the surface Drizzt meets Bruenor Battlehammer, Catti-brie Battlehammer and Wulfgar, Son of Beornegar. They quickly forge a strong bond and start exploring the world as companions, while always trying to escape Lolth‘s wrath. A drow elf ranger, a dwarf fighter, a human ranger and a human barbarian are trying to defend the surface by killing monsters and defying tyrants, gods and everyone that wants to harm them. In the 4 minute long animation video (that you can watch below) Cumberbatch reads a poem written by R.A. Salvatore which follows Drizzt‘s younger years when he decided to abandon the cultists of Lolth, the Spider Queen, and begin his own hero’s journey where he meets his group of companions.
To sum up, if you’re still interested to learn more about his journey or even see it coming to life you can catch the upcoming RPG Game Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance on July 22!
