The Return of Cumbernauld Comic Con
Cumbernauld has always been a massive part of the BGCP journey. Over the years, we’ve loved bringing the community together, from our early days at New Town Hall to our pop-up events across the town. In addition, many of you will remember the incredible buzz when we first brought the “Takeover” format to the shopping centres of North Lanarkshire.
However, as the geek community in the town has grown, we’ve found our perfect home at the Antonine Shopping Centre. We turn the heart of the town into a massive playground for geeks, gamers, and families. Because entry is completely free, it has quickly become one of the most popular things to do with kids in Cumbernauld.
What to expect at every event:
- Meet Your Heroes: Grab a free selfie with characters like Spider-Man, Bumblebee, or Sonic the Hedgehog.
- The Market: We fill the mall with specialist traders selling rare comic books, Pokémon cards, Funko Pops, and custom crafts.
- A Welcoming Vibe: Whether you’re a pro cosplayer or it’s your first ever Comic Con, everyone is welcome in our community.

We believe that Comic Con should be accessible to everyone, regardless of budget. That’s why our Cumbernauld Takeover events are Completely Free and you don’t even need a ticket to join the fun.
That being said, putting on a show in a major retail hub like the Antonine Centre comes with costs. To help us keep returning to North Lanarkshire every year, we offer Optional Donation Tickets on our event pages. Every penny donated goes directly toward venue fees, staffing, and bringing even more characters to the town!
Venue: The Antonine Shopping Centre
The Antonine Centre is the perfect all-weather home for a geeky day out. Since the event is fully indoors, you can leave the umbrella at the door and enjoy the market in comfort. The venue is fully accessible for prams, wheelchairs, and power-chairs.
Make a Day of It: One of the best things about the Cumbernauld location is that everything you need is right on our doorstep:
- Refuel: Grab a coffee at Costa or Cafe Alba, or enjoy a family bite to eat at the various food outlets within the centre and the neighbouring shopping areas.
- Shop: Visit your favorite high-street brands in between hunting for rare collectibles at our stalls.
- Explore: If the weather is nice, why not head over to the nearby Cumbernauld Glen for a walk after you’ve met your heroes?
Getting Here:
- By Bus: The Cumbernauld Town Centre bus stances are just a minute’s walk from the entrance, with links across North Lanarkshire and to Glasgow/Stirling.
- By Train: Cumbernauld Station is nearby, with regular services from Glasgow Queen Street and Motherwell.
- Parking: There is ample parking available on-site, making it easy for families traveling from across the Central Belt.
