Whether you make it Marvel, dig the DC or are eagerly awaiting the new Image Comics show Invincible on Amazon Prime you’ll agree the recognisable and charismatic J.K. Simmons has made his mark in the world of Superhero TV and Films.

Simmons always plays his role as Simmons whether it is grumpy, world-weary, Jim Gordon showing up again in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, playing grumpy and world-weary J. Jonah Jameson in Spiderman- Far From Home or his latest Invincible appearance as the grumpy, world-weary Omni-Man he is the man with one face and thousand characters!

Epilogue: The Snyder Cut

While we too would love to envision a similarly hopeful future, Warner Bros CEO, Ann Sarnoff has, more or less, ended any possibilities of a sequel to Zack Snyder’s Justice League

“I appreciate that they love Zack’s work and we are very thankful for his many contributions to DC,” Sarnoff recently shared. “We’re just so happy that he could bring his cut of the Justice League to life because that wasn’t in the plan until about a year ago. With that comes the completion of his trilogy. We’re very happy we’ve done this, but we’re very excited about the plans we have for all the multi-dimensional DC characters that are being developed right now.”

With that statement it looks like Gordon will be switching off the Bat-Signal and hanging up his fedora and crumpled trench coat, but fans of the Snyderverse could still get there way in the long term with the fan pressure at maximum now. even if live action is out Simmons’s could reprise the role in animated or audiobooks formats.

Spiderman and the Marvel Multiverse

After we all picked up our jaws with the surprise return of Simmons’s take on JJJ at the end of the last movie in 2019 the rumour mill has reached overdrive levels after WandaVision left fans at the edge of their seats for both the 2021 release of No Way Home. The new movies could see heroes and villains leaking in from across the Multiverse this Christmas with only Dr Strange able again fix the situation.

The bleed from Raimi’s movie already could hint that the multiverse is broken and if so then Simmons’s could be in multiple titles!

“I never know what I’m allowed to talk about or not, but I’m pretty sure people know that I might be showing up in Spider-Man land again, too,” Simmons told ComicBook.com

If that is not a hint that we’ll see more of the bristle-tached character then I don’t know what is!

Invincible

on the 26th of March Simmons’s goes for the superhero trifecta with the voiced role of Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man the most powerful hero in the world. His son, Mark, the protagonist in the animated show is thrown in at the deep end and must understand how to come out of his father’s shoulder and dealing with the idea that he might not know everything his father actually is. T'was a cold dark night in East Kilbride... and below the roundabouts, something old and ancient began to shudder awake. The world would rue the day that it gave the Green Jaguar comics to read!
