Job Opportunity: Character Performers & Mascots (Paid Roles)

Sonic BGCP Scotland

Do you have the energy to be a real-life superhero?

BGCP Comic Con is recruiting energetic, fit, and reliable performers to join our character team for the 2026 season. We are looking for individuals to wear our high-quality costumes and act as the “face” of our events across Scotland.

The Role:

  • Suit Up: You will be performing in high-end costumes and mascots, including Transformers, Sonic, Mario, Batman, and Spider-Man.
  • Meet & Greets: Posing for photos, high-fiving kids, and keeping the magic alive.
  • Travel: We tour across the country, including Glasgow, Dundee, Fife, and Inverness.

We Are Expanding! We are currently looking to purchase new costumes to expand our roster, but we need the right people to fill them first! We are open to adding new characters based on the performers we find. If you have the right attitude and build, we might just get a suit specifically for you.

Requirements & Costume Fit: Our goal at BGCP is to create “core memories” for children. To do this, we strive for the highest level of character accuracy possible.

  • Costume Accuracy: We have huge respect for cosplayers of all shapes and sizes in the community. However, for these specific paid roles, we are limited by the fixed dimensions of our movie-replica props and bodysuits. Applicants must fit the specific athletic or slim builds required by the materials to ensure the character looks like they just stepped out of the movie or game.
  • Height: We are looking for a variety of heights! Whether you are taller (for heroes/villains) or shorter (for mascots/speedsters), we have different roles to fill.
  • Fitness: You must be physically fit. Wearing mascot suits (like Sonic) or armor (like Transformers) is hot, heavy work, and you need to maintain high energy for the fans.
  • Grooming (Male Applicants): For characters with exposed jawlines (like Batman or Captain America), being clean-shaven is a must. Stubble interferes with the cowl fit and breaks the immersion for the kids!

Availability: We have a busy calendar for 2026. Ideally, you should be available for key weekend dates.

Perks:

  • Competitive Pay: Above living wage, paid per event
  • Travel Provided: Transport to venues outside the central belt is arranged.
  • Be a Hero: There is no feeling quite like seeing a kid’s face light up when they meet their hero.

How to Apply: Please send an email to ian@bgcp.co.uk with:

  1. Headshot: A clear photo of your face.
  2. Measurements: Your height and general clothing size (so we know which suits might fit you).
  3. Availability: Let us know if you are free on weekends.
  4. Experience: Any acting, cosplay, or mascot experience is a bonus.
