Zack Snyder Assembles His Cast For Rebel Moon
Do you ever wish that Star Wars had more slow motion action paired with Leonard Cohen music? You are in luck, as Zack Snyder has just announced the cast for his next project; Rebel Moon.
This project will follow on from Zack Snyder’s last film; Army Of The Dead and began life as a pitch for a potential Star Wars movie. Shortly thereafter, The Stone Quarry, (Snyder’s production company,) signed a multi-picture distribution agreement with Netflix to make the movie on the back of the success of Army of the Dead. Rebel Moon will mark the first project spawned from the deal.
Zack Snyder co-wrote the film along with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, best know for writing John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Atomic Blonde respectively. Snyder will also direct. Rebel Moon will be produced by Zack and Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, Eric Newman, Sarah Bowen and Bergen Swanson.
Excitingly, we now have the makings of a cast set to work on the project. It was announced yesterday that Charlie Hunnam will play the lead role in the movie and Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, and Doona Bae will appear alongside the Sons Of Anarchy star in the gritty sci-fi film.
We don’t yet know many details regarding the plot of Rebel Moon, though we do know that the story will take place on a distant colony on the other side of the solar system. When the destruction of that colony is threatened by and evil army led by a ruthless dictator, the colony send a young woman to neighbouring worlds to recruit soldiers to help defend their home. It all sounds very Star Wars/Seven Samurai to me.
The project is currently in pre-production and filming is expected to take place later in 2022. Rebel Moon will most likely be released exclusively on Netflix. Along with the casting news, Snyder also shared some cool-looking concept art on his social media accounts, which you can check out below:
What do you think? Are you excited to see this project come to fruition? What do you make of the cast? Are you into the look of the concept art? Let us know in the comments down section below.
