Intro
A Righteous Thirst For Vengeance #2 – Sonny digs into the dark web to discover the Blue Jackal’s next victim. He soon realizes he is not the only man on the job.
Join New York Times bestselling writer RICK REMENDER (DEADLY CLASS, BLACK SCIENCE) and ANDRÉ ARAÚJO (GENERATION GONE, Man Plus) for a uniquely atmospheric murder mystery with sudden bouts of brutal violence.
Writing
Rick Remender follows up on the fantastic first issue and it’s fascinating to see how Sonny is falling down the rabbit-hole of the dark web. The pacing of the book is really intriguing as well as like the first issue, there is very little dialogue to the book but when there is, it only serves to deepen the mystery. Sonny is a character that I hope we learn more about in the coming issues so that we can understand his motivation for what he is currently undertaking.
Artwork
The artwork from Andre Lima Araujo is really interesting and I really like his focus on facial expressions throughout the book. Given that there is very little dialogue, it is down to Araujo’s fantastic artwork to emphasise Remender’s story. And it does this very well. Chris O’Halloran’s colouring is a perfect accompaniment to Araujo’s art and his subtle palette really catches the eye.
Overall
This is another great issue. I’m really enjoying how this book is set out with the multiple panels and the reserved use of dialogue for the protagonist, Sonny. Remender’s storyline really is being driven by the fantastic artwork of Andre Lima Araujo and it is this pairing that is the catalyst or such a successful book. Fans of murder/mystery/thriller books will thoroughly enjoy this series.
