Synopsis

INFINITE DESTINIES, PART TWO / INFINITE FURY, PART 2

CAPTAIN AMERICA VERSUS OVERTIME! The fugitive known as Overtime broke out of death row when the time stone chose to bond with his soul, giving him powers he barely understood. Now, thanks to Captain America…his time is up. ALSO IN THIS ISSUE: Part 2 (of 8) of “Infinite Fury”!

Writers: Gerry Duggan/ Jed MacKay

Is anybody else bored with the Infinity Stone/Gems etc..? The story peaked in the 1990s and has been going downhill since. The movies have exacerbated the situation and we now get Marvel dusting them off every few years or so to McGuffin the plot forward.

This annual is exactly the problem, Hector Bautista gets transformed to Overtime and all he wants to set time straight to stop his younger, stupider version from killing two people in an armed robbery. He actually tells this about eight times to Black Widow and Cap but they are more interested in attacking and arresting him than sitting down and talking to him.

I’m going to say one word “WHEELIE!” and ask why is Widow shouting to Cap about a maneuverer she already has control of. It looks silly and amateurish.

In the second story, Cap and Fury chat while having a boxing match.. The End.

Artwork: Marco Castiello/ Juan Ferreyra

I’m really torn on the artwork in this annual. On one hand, Castiello creates amazing scenes and adds energy to a scene such as a motorbike chase but on the other hand, we get bad panels such as the squatting Widow panel (see below.) what is she squatting on the desk, the floor, Cap? in the next panel she is standing up and no chair. This feels forced to extenuate her breasts and legs. It’s creepy, to say the least. There are quite a few examples of Castiello using the wrong pose within this story.

The second story struggles with simple poses and action within the boxing run and neither Cap nor Fury looks real, with no hits connecting. The red, white and blue colouring is a bit cheesy but it would have looked worse in full colour.

Overall Thoughts

I wish someone would snap their fingers and get rid of the infinity stones and the storylines. I’m writing this article squatted on the desk like Widow and I’ll pop a wheelie while shouting the word loudly as I post it. 1 star

T'was a cold dark night in East Kilbride... and below the roundabouts, something old and ancient began to shudder awake. The world would rue the day that it gave the Green Jaguar comics to read!
