Russell Crowe Confirms Thor Role

Russell Crowe Confirms Thor Role

Russell Crowe has confirmed his role in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Since joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have speculated who the actor will be portraying. If you speculated a god, you were right. The actor will be the king of the gods, Zeus.

Crowe revealed his character in an interview with an Australian radio show. He commented, “I’m gonna get on my bicycle. I’m gonna ride up to Disney Fox Studios, and around about 9:15 I shall be Zeus!”.

He also confirmed that it was his last day of filming as he commented, “It’s for Thor. It’s my last day of Zeus-ing about and I’m going to enjoy it.”

With the actor confirming his role, it looks like the MCU is looking to introduce more gods into the mix. With the main antagonist of the film being Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, the actor’s role in the universe makes much more sense. In the Marvel Comics universe, Zeus is the long-time friend and occasional rival off Thor’s father, Odin.

Directed by Taika Waititi, who directed Ragnarok, the film already has a stellar line-up. With Chris Hemsworth returning as Thor and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster gearing up to become Thor herself. Other star’s include Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie , Jamie Alexander’s Lady Sif, alongside Guardians of the Galaxy star’s Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently in production and is due to hit theatres on May 6, 2022.
