According to a report by Deadline a film based on Ghost of Tsushima is in the works over at Sony. With ‘John Wick’s’ Chad Stahelski attached to direct the film based on the on the hit PlayStation game.
The movie is set to come from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, the internal branch that adapts Sony’s game franchises for TV and film. The company is also behind the upcoming adaptations of the ‘Uncharted’ Games into a film starring Tom Holland and the ‘Last of Us’. The latter of which is being adapted into a TV show for HBO.
“We’re excited to be partnering with Chad and 87 Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin’s story to the big screen,”. PlayStation Productions boss Asad Qizilbash said. “We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences.”
It is still early days for the ‘Ghost of Tsushima’ movie, and there is no word when filming may begin. Similarly, the film has no release date yet. However, Sucker Punch, the developer of Ghost of Tsushima, are set to executive producer on the movie. Meaning the film will most likely stay true to the source material. Chad Stahelski also being attached to the project bodes well. With his work on the ‘John Wick’ movies showing his competent ability in directing violent and action heavy scenes.
‘Ghost of Tsushima’ is just the latest video game to be adapted into a film with the aforementioned ‘Uncharted’ Film due out in late 2021. Rebellion’s Sniper Elite also coming to the big screen courtesy of the producers of the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ movie.
