Leaked Photos Show ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’s’ Possible Return to Asgard

Leaked Images from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder have confirmed a return to Asgard for The Taika Waititi Marvel project. After changing the overall vibe and look of the film series with ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and destroying two staple elements of the franchise, Thor’s hammer Mjölnir and his home Asgard, Waititi appears to be brining them both back In Thor’s upcoming solo adventure.

At the end of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Asgard was purposefully destroyed by Thor and his allies to stop Hela from further wreaking havoc. This forced them to evacuate the planet and seek refuge on Earth until they were hijacked by Thanos’ ship. While half of the Asgardians were killed, the other half made it safely to their destination.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is breaking away from the usual trilogy rule established with previous Marvel big guns Captain America and Iron man, With Chris Evans returning as Thor due to Ragnarok’s box office success. Tessa Thompson is also set to return as the awesome Asgardian warrior Valkyrie, as well as Natalie Portmen returning to the series as Jane Foster for the first time since 2013’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’, with it being implied she may take on the role of Lady Thor as in Jason Aarons Thor run.

The film is also crossing over into the larger MCU with Chris Pratt and the majority of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast set to appear in the film. Meanwhile, Christian Bale was confirmed as the main villain, Gorr the God Butcher, a villain who was a main part of Jason Aaron’s Thor comic run that could serve as an influence the plot of the upcoming film.

Plot details are scarce on the film, but leaked set photos courtesy of the Daily Mail show new aerial shots of the movies filming site in Sydney Australia, suggesting a return to Asgard. Unfortunately, no actors were spotted while these photos were taken as the building of the structures was still ongoing. It is worth noting the stage is reminiscent of the one at the beginning of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ where the Asgardians put on a performance about Loki’s fake death in ‘Thor: The Dark World’. Given the cliff and ocean background, this could be used for a similarly dramatized version of Odin’s death.

Assuming that ‘Thor: Love and Thunder returns to Asgard, it will be interesting to see how the event is explained as since previously mention the entire realm was entirely destroyed in ‘Thor: Raganrok’. There are number of different theories that could explain a return to Asgard from a flashback sequence, to Valkyrie trying to make ‘New Asgard’ more like the original to help displaced people feel at home. It could also be linked to the possible ties the Film has to Sam Ramies ‘Doctor Strange: And the Multiverse of Madness’ and by Extent the Recent Disney plus hit ‘WandaVision’.

In any case these leaked Images from the set and the expected return of Mjölnir in Thor 4, most likely mean Waititi will have some creative way to explain the return of Thor’s home planet.
