Review – Six Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton #5

Episode 5: Marshall Art

My friends, let me keep it super simple for you: in this issue, you get 20 PAGES OF MASSIVE KUNG FU ACTION, as our now-unified six former sidekicks go toe to toe in a tidal wave of angry stuntmen looking for revenge… and for blood!

It’s going to be very good. Very awesome.

Writer: Kyle Starks

Has Terry Komodo went over to the dark side and betrayed the sidekicks? Will Tad find his balls and actually stand up for and himself, and what happens when you touch Paul Hernandez? All these questions and just these questions are answered in this issue.

Starks’ madcap series hits another crescendo in this issue with a wall to wall stuntman war, hundreds of them trap the sidekicks in a film prop warehouse. With the odds against them and Komodo seemingly siding with the stuntmen last issue can Allison and the crew make it out alive?

There’s so much action from Komodo’s “even a little piece of shit can fall into a toilet” flashback, to Tad’s booty smash and who can forget Paul’s redemption arc?

Artist: Chris Schweizer

Schweizer’s colouring in this issue drops down to a sombre yellow, orange and black palette as the action focuses within the warehouse for the majority of the issue. The flashbacks are, as usual, hilarious with the arrogant and dickish Trigger used to build character in each of the sidekicks.

Overall Thoughts

As a penultimate issue, this issue is a refreshing mix of manic action and low-brow humour as the idiotic sidekicks take a beating from the dumber than dogshit stuntmen but as Lazlo Wells says as least it wasn’t the writer’s guild, they can be near macabre. Roll on to the finale when we find out who killed Trigger.. my monies are on the titular character himself.

T'was a cold dark night in East Kilbride... and below the roundabouts, something old and ancient began to shudder awake. The world would rue the day that it gave the Green Jaguar comics to read!
