Amazing New Lightsaber From Disney!

On May the Fourth Walt Disney World dropped a little update on its currently under construction Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. The three-day, two-night experience is part hotel, part inclusive cruise ship-like experience, and it’s all themed around Star Wars. However, the biggest reveal is a clip of a device that is the closest thing to a “real” lightsaber that we’ve ever seen, and you need to see it to believe it. There is no CGI in what you’re about to see.

During a virtual press conference title “A Special Look Inside Disney Park”, the chairman of the parks, Josh D’Amaro, reportedly lifted a lightsaber from a small box, turned the device on, and said: “It’s real.” Those present described the lightsaber as functioning like the devices seen in the Star Wars movie, with a retractable light blade. There are no further details or any photos or videos of the new lightsaber, which was also reported on by Collider.

As well as the blade Disney released a load of its Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Park toys on the Shop Disney website! These include: You’re very own Wampa, a Kowakian Monkey-Lizard, moving Krykna Spider and a Loth-Cat!

Disney celebrates this day every year on 4 May by commemorating a massive ceremony where they unveil merch, experiences, and upcoming cinematic announcements. Disney announced upcoming merchandise and experiences based on Star Wars: The Galaxy’s Edge and some exciting sneak peek on the immersive experience being planned called Galactic Starcruiser experience which will get unveiled in 2022. Disney is debuting the new series Star Wars: The Bad Batch on the same day and also unveiled the ‘galactic swag’, which is merch inspired and based on the much-anticipated series.

ShopDisney has been updated with tremendous amounts of new products for fans including the new legacy lightsaber hilts to honor the day. Grogu aka Baby Yoda was one of the highlights of the day as the new variant based on the character is Grogu Mini Dome cake, which is shaped like the Baby Yoda. In the range of sweet delicacies, Disney also unveiled Millennium Falcon-shaped chocolate pop available at The Ganachery.

The current plastic sabers cost roughly $200 and my gut tells me that these will be double that price!

T'was a cold dark night in East Kilbride... and below the roundabouts, something old and ancient began to shudder awake. The world would rue the day that it gave the Green Jaguar comics to read!
