According to The Hollywood Reporter, the voice-cast for the long anticipated animated film, Batman: The Long Halloween, has been revealed, including the late Naya Rivera and Jensen Ackles.
Finally, Batman: The Long Halloween is getting the animated movie treatment. With Chris Palmer (director of Superman: Man of Tomorrow) at the helm, it’s shaping up to be a star-studded two parter with Part One to be released this Summer.
Batman’s detective skills are put to the test when an enigmatic killer known only as Holiday takes Gotham on a monthly murder mystery. Tensions are significantly high and questions are scattered across Gotham with everyone asking, who is Holiday?
Importantly, the story has been and remains to be one of the most influential stories within the Batman mythos. The duality of Harvey Dent within the comic was brought to life by Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Trilogy. The multifarious cluster of Gotham’s nefarious roster is replicated in the Most Wanted missions of the Arkham video game series. Additionally, it is speculated that the upcoming Matt Reeves take on The Batman has Long Halloween stakes.
At this time, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that joining the cast of the animated film is Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, dawning the cowl of the titular billionaire Batman. There is evolutionary significance to the casting of Jensen as he previously provided the voice of Jason Todd/Red Hood in Batman: Under The Red Hood.
Moreover, Lending her voice to the ferocious anti-heroine feline, Catwoman, is the late Naya Rivera who sadly passed away in July of last year. Reportedly, Naya finished her voiceover work before her tragic death. Fans of Naya will know her best as the iconic cheerleading badass Santana in the show Glee.
Furthermore, Gotham has never been so overrun with titular villainous heavy-hitters and other key figures so it’d be a shame not to include them amongst the stars. With this in mind, Here is a list of the announced cast and their roles:
- Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent
- Billy Burke as James Gordon
- Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone
- David Dastmalchian as Calendar Man
- Troy Baker as Joker
- Amy Landecker as Barbara Gordon
- Julie Nathanson as Gilda Dent
- Jack Quaid as Alberto
- Fred Tatasciore as Solomon Grundy
- Alastair Duncan as Alfred Pennyworth
Additionally, cast members with as of yet unannounced roles include Frances Callier, Greg Chun, Gary Leroi Grey and Jim Pirri.
