New Star Trek Movie Scheduled For 2023 Release

It’s been five years since a Star Trek movie hit theatres. Now, the wait might finally be over, as Paramount has announced a new Star Trek movie is scheduled for a 2023 release. There have been many speculations on what the next big-screen adventure in the franchise will include.

Paramount Pictures announced a new instalment in the Star Trek franchise with a release date of June 9 2023. As of now, there is no other information on the untitled movie. It does seem, however, that this project is not attached to the one Kalinda Vazquez is developing with JJ Abrams. While the aforementioned movie is still in development, it will be separate from the new film Paramount have currently scheduled. JJ Abrams has also been attached to the top-secret 2023 project.

Many of the actors have expressed a desire to come back for another instalment in the franchise. Spock actor Zachary Quinto revealed he would be happy to return for the long-awaited Star Trek 4. He has also confirmed he has moved on from the idea since the decision is out of his hands. He noted, “You never know things come back in surprising ways and it’s surprising times, and it could be fun if it happens.”. At this moment, it’s unclear if the new project will even turn into Star Trek 4.

It’s still too early to know what the new Star Trek project will include. Some fans of the franchise welcome the idea of a complete reboot to resemble the original TV series. Others want to see the new stars come back to finish their story. Regardless of what happens, it seems Paramount has big plans for the Star Trek franchise.
