2. Like A Devil With His head Cut Off

Thanks to Aftershock Comics for the BGCP quote in the back of the book

Writer: Brian Buccellato

We pick up issue #2 seconds after the Russian Hitman slips on a water patch and blows his brains out. Panicked Mitch cleans up the mess and put the body in a towel bin and hides it in his chicken truck. Back home he finally relaxes and falls asleep in the van dreaming of his awful mother who hates anything to do with kids.

It’s a chaotic, slapstick issue with Buccellato creating a hapless but lovable character in Mitchell. Chaos seems to follow him, engulfing all around while somehow protecting him from most of its effects.

Artist: Hayden Sherman

Sherman and Otsmane-Elhaou continue to show the perfect blend between great artwork and great lettering. The fight scene towards the end of the issue where Mitch and Antonio is everything you need in a comic, blending various panels and lettering styles to show action without confusing readers. My eyes are still watering from the groin grab centre panel.

Overall Thoughts

Buccellato has found the perfect secret spice blend to make a hilarious series, a pinch of anarchy, amazing lettering, slapstick violence, perfect artwork and colouring, pathos and a dash of secret sauce, showing that too many cooks don’t spoil this zinger of a plot.

T'was a cold dark night in East Kilbride... and below the roundabouts, something old and ancient began to shudder awake. The world would rue the day that it gave the Green Jaguar comics to read!
