Intro

Even as Joey struggles to make sense of everything she’s seen, what role her beloved Astor has in it, and what it means for her relationship with him, Crestfall Bluffs is a flurry of activity preparing for the Thistleburn Unveiling Gala Party. When Joey intervenes in a situation she doesn’t fully understand, it will bring everything to a head in the most unexpected way!

EAT THE RICH #4 is the chilling fourth issue from BOOM! Studios. Featuring main cover art by Kevin Tong and variant covers by renowned artists Becca Carey, Kevin Tong and Corin Howell.

Writing

The book starts off quite calm and reserved at the beginning but it accelerates to a thrilling crescendo. Sarah Gailey has delivered another fantastic read in this penultimate issue. And I am really excited to see what happens next. Joey and Astor’s relationship dynamic looks to be hitting a speed-bump after Joey’s encounter with Petal. And with Joey interfering in Pip’s plans, what could this mean for her as part of the family?

Artwork

Pius Bak again excels with his artwork. And I really like how he portrays the intimacy moments between Joey and Petal whilst capturing the animosity between Joey and Astor. Roman Titov’s colouring continues to excel and he helps capture the mood with his fantastic palette. But again it was Cardinal Rae’s lettering that really stuck with me in the depiction of Joey’s thought process and how bold and eye capturing this was. Fantastic work!

Overall

This is an amazing penultimate issue. It starts off slow and reserved and then just gathers pace, concluding in what is a thrilling cliff-hanger. The writing from Sarah Gailey is again on point and it is matched perfectly with the artwork of Pius Bak. It’s slightly bittersweet that this is the penultimate issue as I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. But that being said, I’m excited to see what the finale brings!
