Star Wars: Republic Commando was an instant fan favourite when it originally dropped back in 2005. It was ported to XBox One back in 2018 and it has now been announced that it is coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch. This will be the first time that the game will be made available on a Sony console, as the original was a Microsoft exclusive and only playable on PC and Xbox.
Aspyr games is the studio handling the port, who have also worked on Lucasarts re-releases in the past; possibly most notably they were responsible for the re-releases of Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.
Star Wars: Republic Commando stars current Boba Fett, Temuera Morrison, who voices the games protagonist; Delta-38. With season 2 of the Mandalorian still fairly fresh in Star Wars fan’s minds, this is the perfect time to make this announcement.
The game was also notable for being the first entry in the official Lucasarts Star Wars game series to feature licensed music, including rock band Ash and excerpts of John William’s iconic score
The upgraded port will launch on April 6th at $14.99. The controls have also been modernized to accommodate a contemporary audience.
