TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge gets release date and brand new fighter
Game Title – TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge
Lowdown
With yesterday’s announcement at Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Showcase, we finally have confirmation that the multiplatform brawler is cited for a 2022 release and with a new supporting character, April O’Neill. This information was confirmed further by Developer Dotemu in a recent tweet. And although there is no confirmed exact date for release as yet, it’s certainly something to look forward to for next year.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge invokes the classic 1987 design and has the side scrolling beat ’em up mechanics from the team which brought us Streets of Rage 4, Dotemu. Paying tribute to classic TMNT games such as Turtles in Time, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge brings together the four hard fighting, pizza loving turtles with an additional playable character in the guise of April O’Neill. Personally I would have liked Master Splinter or Casey Jones but who’s to say that these might not be unlockable? (Hint hint if you’re reading this guys!)
Overall Thoughts
As a child of the 80’s, the last time I played a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game was on the NES with the 1989 Konami side scroller which I thought was completely ground breaking at the time. Thirty odd years later and I’m actually really excited for this game.
Now that we have the announcement of a fifth playable character, it opens the game up to four player and co-op and means that players won’t have to fight over who’s playing which turtle. (Still want that Casey Jones character!) With a story mode and a challenge mode, there will be plenty of moves and combo’s to learn as you battle your way through the Foot Clan to reach the Shredder.
