COD: Warzone Pacific Update – Everything You Need To Know

COD: Warzone Pacific Update

A lot of details have dropped recently regarding the upcoming COD: Warzone Pacific update, including various features that will be included in the new battle royale map, the size of that map and the delay of the original launch date. We have grouped everything that you need to know about the upcoming COD: Warzone Pacific update into one handy article to make your life as easy as possible.

The launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard has brought with it a major update for Call of Duty: Warzone. This update is titled; Call of Duty Warzone Pacific and will that initiate a new era for Warzone. This update will also bring Warzone’s sixth season to a close.

The Pacific update will bring with it a brand new Warzone map called Caldera, which will replace the current map Verdansk. That’s right, you will not have the option to play both maps going forward, this is a case of out with the old and in with the new. This also means that you don’t have long left to play in Verdansk. The game’s developers have planned a special send-off for Verdansk that will take place in the days prior to the update going live.

As the title of the update suggests, Caldera is set in the sun-kissed Pacific, meaning it will feature sandy beaches, dense forests, abandoned ruins and a dormant volcano. The new Vanguard Royale mode that will take place on Caldera will force players to fight through the battle royale with World War II weapons from Call of Duty: Vanguard only. Weapons from games like Cold War and Modern Warfare will be totally removed, putting everyone on a level playing field.

In addition, Vanguard Royale will also introduce two new vehicles types: fighter planes and anti-aircraft trucks. The fighter planes can be used to effectively take out foot-soldiers on the ground, whilst the anti-aircraft trucks can be used to combat these enemy fighter planes. Those trucks won’t be the only defence against the planes though, players will also have the use of mounted light machine guns and anti-aircraft turrets that can be found scattered across Caldera.

If you are upset about losing access to your powerful Warzone loadout that you have worked hard on over the past few seasons, not to worry. Your old loadouts will still be available to use in the standard Battle Royale mode, taking place on Caldera and Rebirth Island. That said, the Operators from past COD titles will be available to use in the Vanguard Royale mode.

Another mode called Vanguard Plunder is due to drop at an as-of-yet unknown future date. Although it hasn’t been explicitly said or officially revealed at the time of writing, Vanguard Plunder is expected to essentially be a version of the Plunder mode that we know from previous seasons of Warzone with a World War II-theme.

Again, as is the case with the main Battle Royale mode, Standard Plunder mode is also making its comeback in the COD: Warzone Pacific update. This means that if you are looking to play Plunder in Caldera using your old loadout, (including guns from Modern Warfare and Cold War,) then you will be able to do so here.

The Caldera Map In Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific Update

Along with the above new trailer, an image of the Caldera map has also been released and some players aren’t happy with the underwhelming size of the map. Based on previous leaks, rumours, and teases a lot of players weren’t expecting something more vast that this. Going by the image above, is hard to tell what the exact size of the island will be, however it doesn’t look very big. It certainly does not look bigger Verdansk, as previous leaks suggested. Sure, these leaks could have been inaccurate, but I think it is more likely that Caldera was instead reduced in size over its development cycle.

COD Twitter account ModernWarzone said “Looks like the final version of Caldera is quite different from this one seen in the Secrets of the Pacific Warzone event. Previous leaks from VGC stated the island was larger than Verdansk. Seems like these were true and the island was reduced in size over time. This is why you should always take leaks with a grain of salt. Things change frequently during the development of games. Just because something doesn’t end up being true by the final release of a product doesn’t mean it wasn’t true at some point in time!”
