Synopsis

The exciting next issue in the ERA OF UNLIMITED POWER features the New Mighty Morphin Team versus… the New Green Ranger! But whoever’s left standing will have to deal with Lord Zedd’s shocking machinations. And his even more surprising ally.

MIGHTY MORPHIN #7 features main cover art by acclaimed illustrator InHyuk Lee (Seven Secrets), and variant covers by Eleonora Carlini (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Goñi Montes (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers).

Writing

I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing a few MMPR titles of the past few weeks from the previous issue to the new hard cover double issue of Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers with a tonne of variant covers attached!

Parrott is doing a decent job with a slightly long and convoluted story. As in the TV show the Green Ranger is pitted against the team, meanwhile an elder of Eltar (Zordon’s home world shows up and makes an interesting offer)

These comics went a little too serious with Shattered Grid a few years ago and it’s nice to see a silly story making it’s way back onto the franchise!

Artwork

Lee’s main cover is stunning the reverse shot of Zedd facing down Zordon is a masterpiece! If you can afford a signed version then it’s worth it! Renna is holding up well inside the book, we have the look and feel of show bang on and the action and fight panels are bursting with life. Colourist Walter Baiamonte breaths energy and vibrancy into the artwork and fans will love all the nods to past issues within.

Final Thoughts

As with issue 6 this is not the issue to dive into blid, why not annoy your LCBS to see what back issue they have or purchase the PDF versions to quickly catch up. This series was one of the hottest comics of 2020 selling out on Kickstarter!

Print copies of MIGHTY MORPHIN #7 will be available on May 12, 2021, exclusively at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the one nearest you) or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers like comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Kindle. I score this as a middle of the road three stars!

T'was a cold dark night in East Kilbride... and below the roundabouts, something old and ancient began to shudder awake. The world would rue the day that it gave the Green Jaguar comics to read!
