Blade Runner TV Show In The Works
A Blade Runner TV Show Is In Development!
Ridley Scott, director of the first Blade Runner movie, has told Variety that a brand new Blade Runner TV show is in development. This will be a live-action project, unlike the recent animated series; Blade Runner: Black Lotus, which dropped on Adult Swim earlier in November. It will be the first live-action Blade Runner project to be released since Blade Runner: 2049.
The project is far enough along in development that a script for the pilot episode apparently already exists. Scott disclosed this in the interview saying; “We [have already] written the pilot for Blade Runner and the bible. So, we’re already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, the first 10 hours.”
While news of this Blade Runner show is new, we do already know a fair bit about the upcoming FX Alien series, so we can presume that the production of both projects will likely follow a similar track.
The Alien series will be helmed by Legion showrunner Noah Hawley. Again, as is the case with the Blade Runner show, a pilot episode script and “series bible,” have been written for Alien and both of the respective series’ will apparently span 8-10 hours of watch-time. The Alien show was first announced by FX back in 2020 and it has been previously stated by the head of FX, John Landgraf, that the show will be set on Earth and will aim to capture the horror elements of Alien, as well as the intense action of Aliens.
