COD: Warzone Nuke Event happening tonight?
This nuclear event means that Call of Duty: Warzone is about to change forever.
The Call of Duty: Warzone nuclear event has been speculated on and anticipated by players for a long time. The landscape-changing event has finally been confirmed and is expected to bring with it, the most significant change to the massively popular battle royale game, since it launched over a year ago in March 2020. It has also been suggested by many that the new version of Warzone will be based around a 1980s theme.
This event will also mark the beginning of Season 3, meaning that a new array of operators, weapons and skins will be coming into the game shortly. This will also affect Black Ops: Cold War, in the same way that it did when the previous season launched.
Below, we have listed the start times for the event start time depending on what time zone you are in, along with everything that we know about Season 3 of Warzone so far.
The much-anticipated Call of Duty: Warzone nuclear event is confirmed to take place today, on Wednesday the 21st of April and is set to go live at the following times:
- UK: 8pm (BST)
- West Europe: 9pm (CEST)
- East Coast US: 3pm (EDT)
- West Coast US: 12pm (PDT)
It would be a good idea to double check that your install of the game is fully updated ahead of the launch. (It should be noted that Monday 19/4 gave us a minor update that made fixes to the ridiculously overpowered Sykov pistol.) If this event follows the format of the previous live event, – which gave us our first reveal of Black Ops: Cold War, – there will most likely be a dedicated playlist to join specifically for the event. This playlist option will likely be named Operation Rapid Sunder.
Although all that Activision have confirmed so far are start times and to, “ready yourself for a crescendo of utter chaos within the Warzone,” we can speculate on what to expect from the event based on bugs, leaks and key moments from Season 2. In terms of what we can expect from the nuke event in Warzone, The biggest result going forward for players will most likely be the introduction of a brand new map.
Back in May 2020, various bunkers were opened across the map. The most relevant one being Bunker 11. Bunker 11 contained several mysterious things, including a server room and a button, that when pressed, revealed a nuclear warhead. Unfortunately, players weren’t able to interact with the nuke, however it did lead to speculation that nukes may possibly be actively used at some point in the game’s life-cycle, possibly at the end of that life-cycle to change the environment of Verdansk to a fresh playable map.
Season 2 saw the arrival of zombies and active nukes. The zombies first appeared due to a crashed cargo tanker down towards the bottom shore of the map. This location, just West of the prison, was simply titled, “Shipwreck.”
Tonight’s live, in-game event will probably see several nuclear missiles launched and detonated across Verdansk in an attempt to wipe out the zombie threat and stop the spread. Following this live event, it is very likely that Warzone will go dark until the launch of Season 3.
