First Look at Janeway in STAR TREK: PRODIGY
Hologram Captain Janeway?
On First Contact day we got out first Look at the new Captain Janeway in STAR TREK: PRODIGY and we have set our faces to stun! The kids-friendly show was originally planned for Nickelodeon, will premier on the new US Streaming network Paramount Plus.
Star Trek: Prodigy is officially confirmed to take place in the Delta Quadrant — the home of the USS Voyager’s adventures and the long journey home — and will take place in 2383, five years after the starship returned to the Alpha Quadrant in Endgame.
Synopsis
The teaser image of the young alien cast revealed in February was filled with a number of unfamiliar aliens (and robotic or cybernetic) characters. Apart from the second alien, who some fans pegged as a possible Talaxian. As they’re all from the far side of the galaxy, a long distance from the majority of the known Star Trek species.
Supporting the crew on the vessel is Janeway, the ship’s hologram, a riff from the Voyager show where the doctor is an Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH.) Towards, the end of the show the doctor was upgraded to command protocols and this could be a hint at where the new Emergency Training Hologram (ETH) comes from.
This will allow the show to have fun both introducing new species but will have a way of introducing Star Trek to younger audiences!
The official description states “These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered … but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents.”
