Official Synopsis For The Batman Released

Official Synopsis

As we edge ever closer to the much anticipated release of director Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman movie, the hype train is gaining momentum. To add to this, the Warner Bros.’ UK website have dropped the official synopsis for the film, giving fans a better idea of what they can expect to see from Robert Pattinson’s take on The World’s Greatest Detective.

The full synopsis reads as follows:

“THE BATMAN is an edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he’s hunting.”

The first major thing to be garnered from this synopsis, is the fact that it confirms that the upcoming film will be just as much of a dark thriller than it is a superhero action movie. During DC FanDome, Robert Pattinson said of Reeves’ vision for The Batman; “I just knew there was something radically different from anything we’ve seen in Batman movies before.”

The synopsis also mentions that the film will follow the, “early years,” of Batman, which also lines up with Matt Reeves has stated before saying that this movie, “refers to his origin.” Additionally, the “ruthless serial killer,” mentioned in the synopsis is obviously referring to Edward Nashton AKA The Riddler, who will be portrayed by Paul Dano in The Batman.

The synopsis also discusses Batman, “struggling to balance rage with righteousness,” which can be seen in latest trailer for the film where Andy Serkis’ Alfred Pennyworth expresses concern that Bruce could become consumed by his anger. Both trailers also show this version of Batman stating that he is, “vengeance,” which is again in line with his personal rage when hunting criminals.

The Batman will finally come to cinemas on the 4th of March 2022. While we wait in anticipation though, we have the latest trailer for the film, which dropped during the DC FanDome event to keep us going.
