Sony State Of Play Stream Announced for 8/7/21

Sony State Of Play

It has been announced on the official PlayStation Twitter account that the much anticipated State Of Play stream from Sony will be taking place on Thursday of this week, the 8th of July. The stream will take place at 5PM EST, 2PM PST and 10PM BST and will be broadcast via the official PlayStation Youtube and Twitch channels.

This stream will mark Sony’s first public showing as a company since their absence during this year’s E3 event. Due to this, many are expecting some significant announcements to compete with the whopping eight new IP announced during the Xbox/Bethesda conference.

Along with the announcement of the stream taking place, Sony also confirmed that nine minutes of the stream will give us an extended look at Deathloop, included detailed gameplay clips showing various mechanics featured in the game.

Deathloop takes place on the island of Blackreef, where an eternal fight is taking place between two assassins, the outcome of which will determine the future of the island. Player take control of Colt and their goal is to somehow end the time-loop that is keeping the island in a perpetual cycle of battle, all whilst the inhabitants of Blackreef hunt you down.

The game will feature eight other targets to take down, as well as Julianna. Julianna is another assassin present on the island who is trying to ensure that the time-loop continues perpetually by taking out Colt. Players will have to familiarize themselves with each loops that they experience and use the knowledge gained in order to eventually put a stop to the cycle entirely.

The previous State Of Play stream gave us an extended look at Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart in a similar fashion.

It was also revealed that there will be some announcements made by third-party and indie developers during the stream. However, the specifics of what this could entail are not yet known.

On the PlayStation Blog post announcing the stream, Sony specifically said that we should not expect any updates regarding God of War: RagnarokHorizon Forbidden West, or PSVR2. However, there is still a slim chance that we could see a couple of the things predicted by myself earlier in the week.
